Sharp today announced they will be phasing out their Galapagos tablet and ceasing orders shortly.
As of September 30, 2011 Sharp will no longer be taking orders for their 5.5″ and 10.8″ tablets. Since their release in December 2010, they have only mustered up a few hundred thousand sales, and they are definitely not something Sharp is willing to dump money into anymore.
The move represents a powerful and undeniable truth. iPad has an iron grip on the consumer tablet market.
With Sharp now following the likes of HP in abandoning their tablet plans, it is clear there is room for only a few.
